The founder
Sophie Dumont, M.Sc.
Sociologist and Ethnographer
Sophie Dumont is Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on the intersections between technology and gender relations. Her master’s thesis explored political activism, media, and gender.
Before founding So Cie et al., Sophie Dumont accumulated over twelve years of rich and diverse professional experience that helped shape her vision, values, and expertise. She has conducted research from an intersectional perspective for both public and private organizations. She also founded and led a circular economy enterprise focused on women’s agency in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Québec.
She then continued her career as an independent research and development consultant, bringing her expertise to public organizations such as the City of Montréal and the City of Pont-Rouge.
From her most recent roles as a socio-economic analyst at the consulting firm GHD to her early beginnings as an intern at the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and Gender in Burkina Faso in 2013, her journey reflects a sustained commitment to contibute to the resolution of social, economic, and development issues.

Expertise
In addition to the founder’s expertise in social sciences and statistics, So Cie et al. draws on strategic and diverse skills through collaboration with seasoned professionals, including Sheila Ribeiro, Ph.D., in semiotics, culture, and transdisciplinary communications; Joanne Morin, in organizational ethics; and Érik Gaudreault, in marketing and communications.
Our interdisciplinary approach enhances our analyses and strategies, thereby optimizing the quality of our services.
